This Italian-style sourdough pizza dough is wonderfully chewy, delightfully airy, and infused with a subtle tang from the natural starter. With just a handful of simple ingredients and a little patience, you’ll end up with beautifully risen dough that’s ready to be rolled out and topped with all your favorite toppings. It’s perfect for pizza nights, flatbreads, or even calzones!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a big mixing bowl, start by combining flour and water. Stir it all together until everything is well mixed and there are no dry bits of flour left.
  2. Next, add in the sourdough starter and salt. Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until the dough feels smooth and elastic.
  3. Once that’s done, cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough take a little break for 30 minutes.
  4. After the rest, pour in some olive oil and knead the dough again for another 5 minutes to make sure everything is nicely blended.
  5. Now, divide the dough into four equal pieces and shape each one into a ball.
  6. Place these dough balls on a floured surface, cover them up, and let them rise for 1 to 2 hours until they’ve doubled in size.
  7. And just like that, your dough is all set to be shaped, topped, and baked into some mouthwatering pizzas!
